I keep my fish tanks immaculate but I'd still be worried about tankborne disease. Otherwise, though, I don't really think this is that gross. It's just people with weird interests being passionate about their weird interests.

Rats are literally my favorite animal so I shouldn't judge, you're right. It's just an initial reaction thing.
I definitely get how this could make someone squeamish! I have a thing about my own blood so these would not be the pets for me...
