OK I've been keeping an eye on this game since the first trailer, as a lot of the aesthetics and ideas on display are appealing. For anybody who knows more about this game and its devs, how brainwormed is it?
The chances of this game being super lib is as high as its chances are to release and be a complete technical disaster based on the rumors of its development
Atomic Heart is an adventure role-playing action game with a closed world, which takes place in an alternative Soviet Union of 1955. Science, equality and fraternity are the main symbols of Freedom in this reality. But what kind of effort does it take to build an ideal society? And what is the price of such a society? Will Major of Intelligence "P-3" have to find out what forces are behind the Utopian dream? And what secrets are hidden in the depths of Facility 3826? The truth will have to be paid in blood.
That's from the website copy. Sounds very :reddit-logo: :1984: if you ask me.
Can't wait for the final boss to be Lenin in a Gundam :cyber-lenin:
Oh god, it's just going to be the Mecha-Hitler from Wolfenstein but gommulnist.
But the twist ending is that instead of shooting lasers at you he writes a scathing article in Pravda accusing you of being a counter-revolutionary.
Looks cool as hell but if it isn't made entirely of anti-communist brainworms stuffed in to people suits I will be shocked.
Not even sure how to interpret this tbh, but my gut instinct is telling me :cringe:
:awooga: would be fortunate, I'm worried it could be a "gommulists = gays = d*generates" sort of thing
Can't say I've seen anything quite that explicit, but I vaguely recall reading something about this in the days of yore about the authors being vaguely anti-communist, which follows since the story seems very "Le Ebil Gommunism Science"
The devs have posted straight up softcore images of the female robots on official channels. It's pretty :cringe:
I thought this game was a scam because they would post vague scripted gameplay with an ugly ass UI for several years
Do we know if this is an immersive sim or just a shooter? I thought it would be the former but the presentation here suggests the latter.
Looks like it might be Bioshock-adjacent at best, but probably more of a shot towards the newer Wolfenstein and Doom games? So, a bit of exploration but nothing that you could call an immersive sim by any means.
It shows so many different verbs/guns/powers I'd be surprised if it doesn't do at least some immersive sim stuff.
According to a dev blog, it was originally planned to be a shooter with levels, but the huge reaction from Reddit comparing it to Fallout made them retool it to be more immersive sim-like. This massive unexpected attention and scope expansion is also the root cause of development issues that may or may not have been resolved if it finally has a release date.

:shrek-pixel-despair: Why would anyone do this lmao. This could have had potential to be a fun, dumb budget title but they decided to chase after games with Bethesda budgets and development cycles.
It caused a shitshow with its publisher and a massive delay, I remember a year ago people were saying it would never come out - but if it's coming out soon I guess it managed to survive whatever happened behind the scenes.
Based on the world info that's been released so far, the story seems to be that the Soviet Union invented robots to replace the extreme losses from winning WW2, and then the robots went off-script and destroyed everything. I have the feeling that the world building is going to be the inverse of Bioshock, where the communists fucked everything up instead of a rich libertarian - but I hope to be proven wrong.
“Wot if we took a realistic example of libertarian techbros ruining society and replaced it with communism?”
The combat looks energetic as fuck so I'm probably gonna get it anyway. Probably gonna be libshit politics but welcome to vidya
For a minute I thought "linshit" referred to linear shooters. I would like to formalize the use of "linshit" to refer to linear shooters effective immediately
If I recall correctly the creator has some memories of the 90s shock therepy period but was always reasonably comfortable and has spent the time since absorbing reactionary brainworms along with english language media and coding skills and ITbro shit. A mix of all the brain poisions but the game looks like it might be okay and if we get a cool lazer stalin out of the deal I will be pleased
