It's a pretty common view, especially among the kind of Gundam fandom you would find around places like this. It is super popular, though, and sells a lot of toys in Japan.
It's just not written nearly as well as many of the other series. It's an alternate universe that has a similar setup to the original show, but it doesn't do anything particularly interesting with the scenario or characters. The main character, Kira Yamato, is that specific kind of special boy who always can solve the problem with no issue. That, and it's one of the early digipaint shows from the 2000s that just don't look great.
(but i don't do giant robots)
Any particular reason for this? I generally recommend the original Mobile Suit Gundam or Turn A Gundam for people who want to dip their toe into it. Both shows have pretty compelling character dramas that even people who aren't into the giant robot angle can enjoy.
If you were going to watch only one Gundam show (or only one mecha show in general), I'd make it Turn A Gundam. It's probably my favorite anime hands down (and is a standalone series - you don't really need to see other Gundams unless you like recognizing robots from other shows).
If you ate this without sharing with Kim Jong Un, he would personally execute you by sitting on you
Armored Trooper Votoms has some pretty cool designs, but that's cheating since Okawara also did mechanical design for that show lol
I had the exact same Victory Gundam Mk 2 back when I was first into Gundam as a teen lol. I also had like a million of the action figures from the UC and G Gundam shows. I think my mom gave them away to some poor Burmese refugee kids during the period when Gundam SEED was so bad it made me quit watching anime for like 15 years lol
Paul Robeson is a legend
Lots of union songs also use old time tunes for their melody, too. Like "Union Maid" is a reworked "Redwing"
Didn't expect Wakanda Forever Kamala emote lmao
I'll admit that I was making a bad faith suggestion lol. OP's concern over censorship and Lemmy profile makes them come off kinda reactionary. Plus, the question seems kinda goofy.
IDK, convert to Islam if you're that worried about reading your holy texts in their original language?
Someone will have their sexual awakening to the CGI Idris Elba cat

What on earth
Also, imagine going to Slovenia and not getting some chintzy Tito merch lol
I'm surprised that the libertarians aren't too upset over no guns no vapes lol
Tacky and labor intensive!
I'm pretty sure it'll be more Zeon apologist than the Zeon Wunderwaffe show.
The further Germinisation of Zeon during the 80s OVA era really flattened their characterization, unfortunately. It's much more interesting when there's an anti-imperialist streak that has mostly been purged by the autocratic Zabi family. Japanese military otaku smh lol
It needs to be jankier and more stylish instead of trying to look like a last gen console game cutscene.
Yeah, the biggest problem is that this is so bland and generic looking.
You hire the 40k fan film guy to make a Gundam and "newtype ability isn't magic" is what you get lol.
You'd think we could get some kind of horrific Flanagan Institute thing, but nah we get this.
At least communist founders are portrayed as human lol
