Like his pals Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, Sacks is using his wealth and online clout to unite conservatives and former leftists in a reactionary movement against liberalism.

Halper invited her audience to discuss on Callin, a growing podcast platform, “the astroturf recall” that removed Boudin. But there was a glaring, unacknowledged irony: Callin, which has attracted a swathe of very online journalists from the left, right, and murkier ideological corners, was co-founded by David Sacks, a venture capitalist and longtime tech executive who was one of Boudin’s earliest and most vocal opponents. Sacks had branded Boudin “the Killer D.A.” whose policies caused innocent people to die. He told former Fox News star Megyn Kelly that there was “chaos and lawlessness in San Francisco,” a product of “Soros D.A.s” with their “progressive agenda of decarceration.”

I might be missing some,

  • the glenn greenwald podcast

  • revolutionary blackout network : which has gone far into the patsoc larouche verse

  • the jimmy dore (after) show

  • useful idiots - idk if it improved after Taibbi left it, but still

  • single minded conversations w Jessie Signal (notable transphobe)

  • the debrief with Briahna Joy Gray

  • ben burgis give me an argument

  • TK live Matt Taibbi

among other greats I haven't heard of before like

  • san fransicko which seems to be a right wing podcast complaining about crime and wokeness and san francisco

Also dissapointing to see people who I don't think especially high of, but at least more or less claim to be on the left like Aaron Mate, Danny Haiphong, and even Ben Norton taking money from these Theil adjacent silicon valley ghouls

I, for one, am interested to see where "podcasts, but gig economy via app" takes us

this is pushing the boundaries of outsider art here

Imagine a world where every single podcast with more than 200k recurring listeners is just a slurry of the same cadre of people guesting and hosting on shows that have no discernably consistent cast and talking about the same topics but with their own quirks because you have this massive amorphous blob of quirky hosts so like you find someone with a quirk you like and then you just circle the drain listening to the same shit over and over until human extinction or the VC money dries up whichever comes first

Anyone trying to make generic political comedy slop podcasts is going to have their lunch eaten by AI-generated podcasts in a year or two. The tech is almost there, and the quality standards for the content are poor enough.

Who is this for? Someone who wants their voice on the internet yet can't be bothered to look up how to hook an audio file to an RSS feed? This is one of the easiest mediums to enter. You don't need an app for it.

Lol of course Briahna Joy Gray is doing this. I mean, I'm a little surprised at Useful Idiots without Matty T is doing this shit, but goddamn is it just abunch of post-Bernie grifters.

I think it would be really funny if :trueanon: put their stuff on Callin to confuse all the :sicko-queer: nutters using the site
