"In the series, cavemen were never really fully supplanted by modern humans, but integrated into Homo sapiens civilization as a separate species sub-group. "
is it just me or is the premise kind of interesting? I feel like something could be done with that
Possibly, but it would basically have to be about the thousands of years of discrimination and oppression by Homo sapiens that they would have inevitably faced. Maybe a good metaphor for racism or even ableism, but also maybe not so fun.
just taking stereotypes of black people and having other characters assign them to the Cavemen
Weird, it’s not like if we don’t have unique stereotypes for cavemen already, that’s what the ads were about. I can definitely see where there would be some overlap from the general sentiment of the target group being “inferior”, but the unique cavemen stereotypes would already be the natural thing to focus on.
They tried to make a sitcom out of that.

That same show replaced Lopez Tonight and George Lopez said something like “just goes to show that a Mexican can’t be on TV but a caveman can.”
I watched a couple episodes of it
The one joke they had was just taking stereotypes of black people and having other characters assign them to the Cavemen
This would be followed by one of the Cavemen saying "Oh, so all Cavemen do X?"
Laugh track, drum roll, fade to black

The whole premise of the commercial was that the cave men were offended by it. It was making fun of 90s PC culture.
People obsessed with wokeness haven’t progressed their worldview since Bush so that checks out
