I think it’s unreasonable to think that he’s going to give the precisely correct line on it all the time, but you can usually tell when the lib brainworms are talking. Probably won’t find a better source to learn about it in audio form. It’s 97% sticking to the facts.

He tried to make a case that Marx was antisemitic and then repeats Trotskyist talking points unnecessarily. If you're not familiar with the history though it's not a bad intro.

It is obvious when he doing his own shit lib commentary like "Interesting, the communist are pro workers, but are so against the Tsarist bureaucrats workers who burn the offices and paper work of state." Plus possibly using a strange none mainstream bias source or pov of the Kornilov affair being the few instances of sus history, the reactionary coup members nobly killed themselves. Or killed themselves because Kerensky dressed them down so hard. Lol.

Still, I listened to the Russian episodes, not like there's any other easy listening alternative to that whole section of history. You'll never have unbiased works unless you're reading or have access to the direct sources.

He loves to say perrrmanent revolution and (imo) downplays the roles of Lenin and especially Stalin before and during the October revolution, really seems intent on making Trotsky the protagonist, doesn't really deal with Lenin's writings or theories, and makes it seem like Marx formulated the original labor theory of value, but other than that it gives a decent account of the sequence of events and the interconnected movements that gave rise to the revolution. I also felt like he did a good job of explaining the motivations and necessity of the Bolshevik takeover, mainly the provisional government continuing to drag the country through WWI. I might give it another listen, see if I feel the same way about it.
