Pretty simple essay. When the old sub died I remember checking out raddle a bit, but that one guy (I think it was Ziq) who owned it or created it would post and platform his own essays, and refused to accept the criticism that doing so meant being in an arbitrary position of power. Despite the occasional bursts of sectarianism, Hexbear has been a friendlier place to settle.
As someone who leans anarchist I don't really agree with the premise either. If you're anti-hierarchy, it's wise to consider the caveats and nuances of such a broad position: for example, that anti-imperialist states can be a force against the biggest hierarchy in the world so to speak, or that leftist "big government" programs can reduce the relative social power of elites. There are complicated trade-offs to consider here.
Raddle had a ton of potential as an r/CTH lifeboat -- it was up and running a few months (or at least several weeks) before this site was, and a fair amount of folks found their way at first.
That one mod you're talking about killed it hard. The definition of "if you're not a fed, you're doing a fed's job." Just the most aggressive sectarianism and purity testing. Zero sense of how to get along with people you're in 90% agreement with anyway.
Agree on both points. He went on a couple tirades against this place as well once it was going.

This piece makes an assertion and then does nothing to back it up. I feel like I've learned nothing except that the author doesn't like any other tendencies besides anarchism.
This line in particular fucking sucks:

So because communists believe you need a state, they're supporters of capital? Come on.
I'm an ex-anarchist, and still anarchist-adjacent, but I have to say that the "anarchist" anticommunism that has sprung up over the last five or ten years is absolutely the worst, most state-department-brained tendency I've ever come in contact with. I'm even seeing people on Mastodon who two years ago were reliable comrades ranting about "tankies".
