Beyond industrial and luxury purposes like computers and jewelry, why do communist countries need to mint gold bullion? I guess it has something to do with trade but it’s seems to be used internally too, so how is gold used exactly in communism?

    I don't understand your question. In current AES, which have market economies, the use is similar if not the same as in capitalist states.

    I'm not aware how the usage of this resource would differ under socialist planning, and we can't speculate about the material conditions under communism.

    I'd recommend Economic problems of socialism in the USSR by Stalin if you want to learn about socialist planning in general, from the man himself. Foreign Languages Press has a version of it with Mao's commentary added to it, which is useful as Stalin often falls short of connecting dialectical materialism with the subject matter. Does make him an easy read tho

      Thanks, does this look like the text you were thinking of? I downloaded a Foreign Language Press pdf version but didn't see any Mao comments.
