Just gonna say it, glad the dutch are out. It was a poorly reffed match that got way out of hand, and the amount of people I've talked to that excuse the dutch shithousing but not the Argentine shithousing says a lot.
Especially considering how much worse the Dutch were during the shootout. Ref had lost the game, but getting sent off during a shootout is dreadful
Yeah lot of folks are mad at the Argentine Keeper in the penalties, but he was making the saves. I thought the dutch getting into the faces of the penalty takers and Argentina wasn't doing the same was much worse.
I'm an argentina supporter and even I'll say that Messi's handball was bush league and should have earned a yellow. That match was a disaster.
Was definitely insanely reffed. Still weird though how Messi did the handball and I swear some folks are treating that like it was the most abhorrent thing anyone can do on the pitch. It's a missed yellow in a sea of terrible reffing decisions. Nobody got hurt. I have more issues with some of the other crazy things that happened in the game.
I think that play was sort of the butterfly flapping it's wings that set off the chain of events that resulted in the final outcome. Parades should have been sent off when he struck the ball into the Dutch bench. As someone who isn't from Argentina, but who loves the way they play football, it's hard to still support them after antics like that.
Yeah I mean idk to me it's par for the course when a game gets out of hand. Parades should have been sent off for sure. The Dutch defender that did the shove should have gotten a yellow, maybe a red as well with how out of control everything was. The benches cleared at least twice at least in that game. Things got that bad pretty much entirely on the ref. I don't feel either team are saints but also certainly feel the antics were fine. Two passionate teams playing their ass off in a knockout round. Granted I'm also very used to watching pure CONCACAF shithouse soccer.
