The morning period on (9am to noonish/1pm UTC time) does not work if you're logged in but often works if you're not logged in.

The rest of the day works fine. I have always assumed that some sort of scheduled daily task is being performed by the servers or site during this time that is overloading the database or something specifically for logged in users who are subscribed to different communities and thus must be served different feeds based on those subscriptions.

My assumption is that nothing is done about this because the work that is being done is going into the task of bringing us closer to lemmy dev so that Hex can match their updates better, get federation going, and generally rely more on their work for backend issues.

So yeah, if you've recently changed schedule and are often trying to view the site between these times you're running into something some of us have known for quite a long time now.

I don’t know if the daily spikes in load are related to high user activity (as that would correspond with some prime slacking off at work hours in both the US and western europe…) or a scheduled job.

I definitely think it isn't caused by activity, the time period that this occurs in is about as off-peak as you can get.
