I genuinely don't think this would be happening at resetera if we didn't drum all of this up using GCJ first. And you have to think of the knock on effects, a lot of industry people are openly active at resetera. While I'm sure that some lurk GCJ it's quite easy for that platform to get fobbed off for being a joke, but when it is the tip of the spear for others following through the influence on industry workers is significant.
If it makes some workers out there question the content and themes that they're putting into their games more, there's a win in that beyond just the anti-JK bullshit.
I'm enjoying the push back against knee-jerk "let people enjoy things" status quo warrioring for things that have horrible ideology and serve as right-wing propaganda.
Every time I hear this I bring up Kanye and ask if they think people should still buy his shit after "I like Hitler".
Once they establish that there is a point at which it is ok to start thinking that stuff is unacceptable you're just haggling for how unacceptable it needs to be. They then have to admit that they're ok with fucking over trans people but not ok with hitler, it forces self-reflection.
