Probably depends a bit on location/the car but me and some pals went in on one to go to a punk fest, so we drove it like 30 hours or so highway speed most of the time and had it for 3 days and it ran about $200. For 5 people, that plus gas ain't bad for a road trip.
Edit: it was also filled with crust punks who had been up for 3 days doing speed and going to shows and we smelled fucking baaaaaaaad, so I think some damage was added on there. It's surprisingly cheap.
I was surprised too. You gotta have a credit card so they can bill you if you steal the car, but aside from that, if you only wanna drive to get places that are super far, it's pretty reasonable.
