    My dad, he tells people stories about his dad beating him like they're good memories. My brother in Christ, it's the reason you're so fucked up and suffering from undiagnosed PTSD.

    For me I guess I have to be able to laugh at the bad shit that happened to me. Not because it's necessarily funny or anything but looking back it's so absurd I got slapped in the mouth for getting melted chocolate on my dad's new sneakers. Like, I was a child lmao what the fuck.

    I am in therapy so that helps.

      My grandmother says similarly about e.g. 20 years of abusive marriage to an alcoholic or her experience being left to raise her siblings at like 10 when her mother remarried. At some point ig there's not much that can be done but laugh
