I've been trying a more painterly style recently, trying to avoid lines and work with big ole' blobs of color and shape. Detail is lacking but I am pretty pleased how this turned out :)
Nice. You should check out Ian Roberts' videos on YT - he goes into a lot about making light, shadow, and shape do the work rather than dialing in detail. He's one of my favorites and has a natural and super-comfy way of presenting his work and methods - videos that don't go on too long but are informative and useful.
Lmao that's exactly where this came from. He put together a collection of nice images/photos/paintings that make good color and light studies and this reference came from that. I could listen to him talk all day it's very calming
Oh wait my bad the reference image came from this guy. I really like him too, once I watched him on YouTube started giving me ian Roberts videos so i know I'm on track lol
