Anti age-gap mf'ers when they meet, like, a third of the gay community: :squidward-nervous:

Glenn Greenwald has a lot of things to be criticized about (and is generally pretty shit at this point), but for some reason some people choose to criticize him on the age gap with his husband. But they were both adults when they first met.

I made it like 4 minutes into this video and it's like 90% filler to meet the Youtube 10 minute quota :shrug-outta-hecks:

What if I'm 40 but I am a broke loser who lives in a van and thus has less agency than a well-to-do 22 year old

Or what if the 22 year old trained in the hyperbaric time chamber and can go Super Saiyan

I watched a bit of the video, and am glad they are seemingly happy in their relationship.

I think context always matters in this situation, but I can't deny being suspicious of the older person's intentions. Especially when the person is fairly young. Paying rent/legally drinking for a few years isn't necessarily an indicator of being super mature, though outliers certainly exist.

All I can really say is from my own experience, which is that I am a majorly different person than I was around 19-21. Every year I have grown and realized shortcomings and immaturity that was present in the year before. I can't help but feel uneasy about someone in their mid to late 30s or even older being interested in someone who is somewhat freshly on their own.

I think there are always exceptions and I also think the older you get, the less the age difference matters. Maturing definitely slows after 25-30, but does not disappear. I think we can all agree that the situation with Leonardo de caprio is weird and gross, and that kind of relationship exists all over the place.

Idk, just putting my thoughts down ab this

i am grateful nobody was blowing smoke up my ass between 18-25, because i was full of false confidence, very wrong about everything, and could have been easily derailed into some kind of toxic wasteland by a bad actor.

i'm not saying that's what happened here or what age gaps always are, but some totally are. human bodies reach their physical peak around their late 20s/early 30s, but the military wants 18 year olds for a reason.

and it ain't because they tend to know what the fuck's goin' on.
