Chapo's always been a big tent platform, and Anarchs vs Tankos vs Ultras is a time honored struggle session. Ignore the assholes & sharpen your theory on the cool ones.
95% of this shit is just dumb internet drama, people on the street or at a bookclub or whatever almost never have this weird sectarian shit. Instead IRL drama is about sex pests and who's turn it is to bring the drugs.
That being said the left is about as unified as Abrahamic religions, always has been.
Ultras
What is this?
Ignore the assholes & sharpen your theory on the cool ones.
That's been the goal so far, it's just sometimes disheartening to have to go through 3 or 4 assholes to get to 1 cool one.
Ultras are Leftcoms, hardline Marxists. "The USSR wasn't socialist because they maintained commodity production" sorta thing.
t’s just sometimes disheartening to have to go through 3 or 4 assholes to get to 1 cool one.
Understandable, fuck the haters. For what its worth I've got ML leanings, but if you wanna fuck with "Tankies" throwing shade look up Mao-Spontex. Its a blending of Maoist theory with Anarchist praxis. Revolutionary spontaneity, the people are the vanguard, and a slant towards decentralization as redundancy in holding the mass line. Most anarchists I've met think its pretty neat.
Mao-Spontex
How did nobody tell me about this sooner? It sounds super cool; got any recommendation for specific works to read to learn more?
Unfortunately there's not a lot of concise works or books about Mao-spontex in particular, its more of a tight orbit of similar theory. Best i can do at the moment is point you towards r/MaoSpontex, and recommend looking at the history of the great cultural revolution as it pertained to rejecting the Bolshevik wing of the CCP.

Woah. Oddly enough this is something I was thinking about lately, mainly in cases like the BPP and Rojava where Mao’s teachings and anarchism may share some practical similarities. Much thanks for this suggestion.
I don't have a problem with them. I think they're usually wrong and often haven't really put critical thought into the consequences of having big bureaucratic systems run everything, but getting bullied online is a good way for me to have to challenge my beliefs. People are mean on the internet and even meaner in real life. It's good to develop tolerance to bad faith criticism when all that's at stake is some words on a screen.
The left does make sense as a cohesive group because of our shared values. We differ in our methods and that's what we spend most of our time fighting over. I bet we both agree with that jerk whose comment you linked that pedophilia and drunk driving are bad, we just don't agree on the best way to deal with it. The way we stay cohesive is by reminding ourselves that, at the end of the day, we all want to make a better world.
How is the left going to achieve anything with “leftists” saying things like “fuck China” and supporting color revolutions?
I don't know how an anarchist is supposed to react to the Chinese state except to condemn it. Being opposed to states is a pretty fundamental part of being an anarchist.
If your ideology makes it impossible for you do anything other than condemn a communist party that liberated a colonized nation, brought life expectancy from 35 to over double that, brought 800 million people away from the brink of starvation and is the entity in the entire world which most challenges global American and neoliberal hegemony then you might want to consider examining your ideology a bit more critically.
By focusing on what's going on in our respective communities instead of arguing about what's happening thousands of miles away. You say China good, I say fuck China - it doesn't matter. China has its shit handled. Xi doesn't care about what we think of him. Whatever China does is none of our business and none of our concern.
I wish China stans and China haters would put half the energy they spent fighting over an issue that they literally do not influence in the slightest towards signal boosting praxis in their own communities.
Except walking around saying fuck China and otherwise talking shit on actually existing socialist projects that have made great strides of human advancement is absolutely damaging to the discussion at home. It’s only feeding into and amplifying the propaganda that is designed to vilify leftism.
I'm a non-denominational communist because I am a coward and stupid :3
Links seem to be a bit broken right now.
Here's the comment I was trying to link to:
when in reality they’re both pretty fucking bad. Fuck the US, fuck China.
Yeah they are both pretty bad
The British empire and the local Mcdonald’s manager who banned me for swiping too many ketchup packets are also both pretty bad. That’s why I complain about them the same amount, because they’re equally bad and deserve equal criticism.
If you have a problem with this, you’re probably a dang honey-bear-worshipping wumao. Fuckin hate these wumaos tbh. China needs to gtfo Iraq and apologize + reparations for killing the Native Americans. Fuck China in particular until it does that, no amount of wumao trolling will change my opinion.
And here's the comments from my edit:
Uh anarchists (at least internet ones, I have no beef with real anarchists out there doing praxis) don’t think wumao is a slur, they think going to war with china is cool and good, and yes they support many neoliberal interventions everywhere. This is literally why MLs and armchair anarchists will never get along
Excuse me? You guys uncritically support the protestors in HK and Belarus, you called Castro a genocidal dictator for the longest time, you were shit talking Evo Morales till he was couped, you think “state capitalism” is a thing, you think that Joe Biden “lets finally succeed in overthrowing Venezuela” is harm reduction. Like, this is common knowledge. If you’d like to prove me wrong you can find one (1) popular post that does the opposite coming from an “anarchist”
