Boeing'd now a major motion picture comedy starring John Candy because nobody says "major motion picture" anymore but that's the phrase I wanted to use.

Yesterday I said I didn't know who could play Trump in a tv series that went on year after year. Now I've made myself sad. I realize John Candy in that role would be great. I'd overlook any lack of facial similarity because Candy's timing would be fantastic and he would be so funny.

Ninja edit: Brendan Gleeson is a fantastic actor so he was sort of believable as Trump in the ~4h The Comey Rule. But he wasn't hamming it up and I had to kind of squint to pretend there was a facial similarity.

Buried on page 554 of the plan is a directive to execute every remaining person on federal death row — and dramatically expand the use of the death penalty

this kind of scrutiny is, in a weird way, why I think Trump may be the harm reduction candidate. Liberals and liberal outlets have endless excuses for the Democrats and their failures, and with any other Republican they keep the gloves of respectability on. But they hate Trump so much, they do real actual combative journalism on everything everything his campaign does.

The article also points out that Biden has been fighting against people on death row who are trying to get their death sentence removed...

so it isn't like there's no scrutiny, at least at the moment.

unfortunately, a fraction of people make it as far as the actual article

Trump gets top billing for what he may eventually do, Biden gets a paragraph sandwiched in the middle for what his administration is currently carrying out

Also he’s president. He has the power to permanently commute their sentences to life imprisonment instead. If he cared about stopping this he could do it in 5 minutes.

Been saying that shit for years. You think Derek Chauvin gets arrested and sentenced without a Trump presidency?

The potential genocide over here is acksually worse than the ongoing genocide over there

    morshupls

We have to support the genocide other there so we don't have a genocide over here!

I mean, it's not exactly hidden. Republicans have been foaming at the mouth to bring the death penalty back in full force for decades now and the Trump administration did go on an executing spree on their way out last time.

There's likely no more soft landing for the US, Trump will do the thing P2025 is pushing, executing all the federal death row inmates, to normalize it, and expand sex crimes against children to include public appearances of drag queens and such. Probably his or a future admin will really push prison on the unhoused, climate/drug war refugees, and certain gender/political minorities (for the free labor to prop up other stuff).

It's all very predictable and another 4 years of Biden won't prevent these things happening, just prolong them and probably make it worse somehow by bottling it up for longer.

The HuffPost Offices at 3:00 AM, May 9th:

"Shit, Project 2025 threats aren't working... Jimmy, what do we have in the back???"

"Uh... Donald Trump is going to authorize hundreds of thousands of hillbillies with shotguns to go out and murder the blacks, transes, and ay-rabs on his first day in hypothetical office?"

"...Jimmy, you're a goddamn genius; have a promotion."

Fuck it, I hope they do at this point. Maybe I'll get got first, if I'm lucky. Like, I hope the smuggard genocide collaborating crackers who've been haranguing us to voot bloo regardless of the racist genocider they want to put up understand: I'd genuinely rather die. I would genuinely rather die myself at the hands of a reactionary cracker than support their genocider-in-chief.

Wow sounds like the sitting President should do something about Trump rather than treat him like a legitimate participant in our electoral system.

Eh, whatevs. I'll probably be too jaded to care if that did happen. Been protesting a genocide too long to really look at death in a normal way lately.

Hey, Dems. You are literally in control of the army right now. If you wanted to stop him, stop sending weapons to Israel and use them against the GOP.

Oh? Suddenly you have no power to stop him? Then what good are you?

Halfway through I had to give up making a shitpost for a guy I made up named Nick Liberal...

    Show

Somehow the actual post with its generic lib klaxon call of "democracy itself is on the line" annoyed me and it zapped my inspiration. So here it is as a shit comment.
