This guy's twitter is also fueling a lot of it. I really, really question how much longer America can last. This shit is likely the worst environmental disaster in a century and there's just no authority on it whatsoever; barely any disaster response.
I live upwind and reasonably far away, thankfully, but still this is a bit too close for comfort. There's no authority saying whether its dangerous in surrounding areas or not. No idea if its spreading in any direction, etc. I hate living in America god damn.
that guy's twitter is kinda wild. it's a huge shit sandwhich up there, but the last hundred years has a lot of shit sandwiches in america.
to my mind, the worst in recent history was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive_contamination_from_the_Rocky_Flats_Plant
literally, such a massive disaster that had been ongoing for decades that the plant was raided by the FBI. think about how fucked up a nuclear weapons manufacturing plant has to be for it to be raided and shutdown by the FBI over environmental concerns. seriously:
the surface of the enormous complex was completely demolished and hauled away and turned into a wildlife refuge. the aftermath from an institutional standpoint, i.e. liability, penalties, court cases is a clusterfuck.
but everybody is moving to denver and drinking the water, so it's all good now. #NationalForgetting
