Lol, this is undoubtedly a reference to John Kruk, who was pitching for the Phillies in the 93 world series. The guy was never on camera during the whole run without a face full of chew. I've never watched baseball before or since but still remember that beast 30 years later spitting out black goo all over the pitch.
