Honestly a pretty good breakdown of World of Darkness! Also it's from the same folks behind Hunter the Parenting which is nice

I was about to recommend Hunter: The Parenting as a fun introduction to the setting, but you already did. :angery:

Always great to see World of Darkness getting more love. Changeling and Mage are big time personal favorites.

    Great intro!

I like that he carefully talked around edition wars. I have my preference as well, but I agree with him that really, any of the editions are playable and interesting.

Personally, I got my start with Chronicles (New WoD at the time), and I still strongly prefer the newer stuff (Changeling: the Lost being my favorite gameline by far). But I still like Old World of Darkness; I just find that the systems comparative messiness and built-in Meta-plot are downsides for me. But the meta-plot is definitely cool to read about, and the 'messy' rules are definitely a feature to some people, and I can see the appeal.

Also, side shout-out to the fan made line of Genius: the Transgression. Sort of a "play as the technocracy" but in Chronicles of Darkness (and also you're not the villain, by default), its probably in my top 5 favorites Storyteller games.

I've yet to try out CtL but I've heard cool things about it, I just recently started WoD via just the basic chronicles core rulebook and find it really cool (it really is horror/gothic punk in how it presents our gritty reality), the closest it feels comparable to is Delta Green though even then that gameline never truly captures a lot of the social aspects I feel WoD does better
