All the elites and their kids are still getting a decent education in all the technical stuff. Meanwhile, the conservatives want the majority of the population to learn about the science of Jebus and the rib lady. You can’t have the whole population become skilled in math and science, otherwise you can’t force poorly educated people to head to the manufacturing factory where all the math is being used to engineer bombs and tanks
