I think it was a combination of that youthful gamer-goblin brain and something about the animation of those games still really feel satisfying. Gamer-brain really pushed me to that weird "I am a man you a machine, you will not best me!" and the animation was just so damn slick. Fun game and a good game, but goddamn it was tough one. Even knowing the tips and tricks I don't think I could do it today.
Yeah I feel you on that. As I've gotten older my skill with games has plummeted, nowadays rpgs and mmorpgs are more my speed.
