    I remember going down the rabbit hole with this back in the days before bots took over Reddit. Evidently what's happened is we've made dogs so dependent on us through domestication that they absolutely require this kind of treatment simply to survive. It's like how milk cows wouldn't survive a single winter in the fields.

    And there is a rather large number of dog people who absolutely love this dependence. It's been postulated that deep down, they miss the experience of having slaves and this is as close as they can get in this day and age.
