Let's go.
They're all bad tbh. Mexico has a cool art deco thing going on. Probably my favorite
China's is cool with the dragon. And I like Australia's. I like the Netherlands one too, even though it's a monarchy symbol i think?
Fun baseball facts:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magglio_Ord%C3%B3%C3%B1ez
Ordóñez was a supporter of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, and in early 2009 appeared in a televised political ad which assured the Venezuelan people that "the best of the revolution and socialism is yet to come."[16] He also joined Chávez on the campaign trail.[17] As a result, during the 2009 World Baseball Classic, Ordóñez was booed by anti-Chávez Venezuelan fans, during his at bats, and while he was on the field.[18][19]
In August 2013, Ordóñez announced that he would run for the office of mayor in the Juan Antonio Sotillo Municipality in Venezuela,[20] on the ticket of the late Chavez's United Socialist Party of Venezuela.[21] It was announced on December 9, 2013 that he had been elected Mayor.[22]
I went to read up a bit on the Cuban team and found a choice line in a New York Times article:
The contrasting viewpoints were emblematic of a changing atmosphere among Cubans in South Florida. Older generations fled for ideological reasons, while younger waves have left for economic ones.
Hmm, I wonder if there could have also been a set of economic factors that influenced the former group? :thonk:
I don't watch baseball at all, is mike trout as good as he is paid?
And Albert Pujols for a while too although he declined hard with the Angels. Same for Rendon.
Yeah, future Hall of Famer, for sure. Considered by many to be the best or one of the best players in the post-Steroid era.
There's a debate between stats nerds in the game (classical stats [HRs, RBIs, etc.] vs. Sabermetrics [wins above replacement...idk because I'm not a revisionist, etc.]). Anyway Trout had a good Sabermetrics season at the same time Miguel Cabrera had a good "normal" season, and there was a huge debate over who should be Player of the Year.
Cabrera ended up winning 🇻🇪.
Trout is still very good, though.
*Sorry, no. He shouldn't be paid that much, of course. But he is very good.
I have no idea what sport is happening but I’m rooting for Venezuela
not to flex but I got to see Eugenio hit a home run in person last year :stalin-heart:
:lathe-of-heaven:
The US will aim seven Havana Syndrome guns at the Venezuelan dugout in the 9th inning.
*8th inning
