neoliberal NPC face: "buh? You think my deregulated OSHA workplace safety is responsible for the opiate epidemic? Actually that's just individuals who need therapy for their overactive imagination" :pete:

capitalism has increased profits despite its tendency to fall, indeed the soft tissue damage of the working class is shown by the microfractures and bone spurs on their fucked up mutant Bloodborne skeleton

When I was a kid, my best friend's dad got pushed by his boss into using an unsafe ladder on a construction job. He fell 30 feet and broke his back. As soon as he filed for worker's compensation, he told my friend, about nine at the time, "Watch. They're gonna drag it out for as long as possible until I die to avoid having to pay out."

And that's exactly what they did, dragging their feet and rescheduling meetings until he died pallid and bedbound ten years later. The final decline took weeks, and I distinctly recall the rattling, labored breaths coming from across the hall. Shit, at least they gave him the opiates.

All over a slave driver boss too cheap to fix a ladder, exactly the kind of person you can either become or be consumed by in our most rational and enlightened system.

There is no justice except that which we make for ourselves. Thank you for reminding us of this.
