Losing the Internet Archive will be a terrible event but bit torrent will live on.

Centralization is amazing for efficiency, decentralization for resiliency. One day we will find the right balance. Future archive projects need to incorporate some form of federation, it won't solve everything but we will learn a lot by moving in that direction.

Hmm... I think they are being too optimistic, a lot of the techbro/4chan culture intersects with anti-government/piracy/independent-liberatarian shit. While most of these are bad on their own and certainly in principle, IMO they are underestimating how quickly they can get this section fo the right wing to basicaly do left wing "activism" by default and for the wrong reasons.

I mean really do they think its BLM woke leftists running hack groups and torrent sites and not the absolute bottom of the barrel righ wing online chuds? Do they take their support for granted and believe these chuds will actually give up their treats for absolutely nothing in return?

Anyway I would expect a resurgence of underground culture of the piracy(late 2000s) peak era before Americans literally relying on nothing but Russian torrent sites.
