This hasn't been an accurate representation of desktop linux for a while now.
Outside of installing obscure libs (which you shouldn't be doing on industrial machines) and video editing, most desktops are just as usable as Windows without a terminal...probably more, but idk what kind of software they're running that warrants a desktop OS and not an embedded system.
