I guess I’ll consume the state mandated amount of treats and feel bad about it in a manner I’m prescribed to feel guilty about. That’s makes me a morally good person. I consume the right amount which is too much but I flagellate myself which its okay.

Is there though? If you're wasting money on pointless consumer garbage because it gives you a fleeting dopamine response it doesn't seem to matter much what you consume.

Some things do more damage than other things. Shopping at Whole Foods and buying a Tesla won't improve society somewhat, but saying "it's all the same" and rolling coal while dumping used motor oil into a municipal water supply is pure :brainworms:

Fair point, there are obviously extreme cases and drag racing cars is worse for the world than going on a nature walk, but buying some overpriced tech junk because you enjoy it doesn't seem materially much worse than spending an equivalent amount on going out and buying food, booze and entertainment. Other than in the vibes based sense that one is for reddit nerds and one is for cool guys.

Just take good care of your overpriced tech junk, make it last, and don't throw it away before it's actually lost its usefulness and it's mostly fine. :the-more-you-know:
