Most of the friends I stay in touch with now are from university or grad school. From uni most of my friends are from a club I was a member of (traditional chinese cultural club). My grad program was very small, so most of us knew each other and were on relatively good terms.

I don't live in the same city as any of them anymore, in most cases we don't even live in the same country. We mostly keep in touch talking online and maybe playing some games here or there. So been close to 20 years since I made any new "close friends".

I am on friendly terms with most of my coworkers now, but I wouldn't really call any of them close friends.

The closest friends I have is:

    • Kid I met in a programming forum about 11 years ago. We were friends but not super close. Over time kept reaching out. Today, still not super close in my opinion, but talk on the regular.
    • His recent friend of the family

I have had a few really close friends in life, but we are no longer friends

    • Middle school: a girl my age. We played Minecraft together
    • 18-20: a guy into programming (same programming forum), and shared very similar game interests
    • 20-22ish: A couple friends I played a minecraft RPG with. One became a streamer, the other 2 just changed interests.

Also, not a lemmygrad user, just saw the post in Hot.

I guess I have three main groups of friends depending on where I've met them: at school, uni, or my local conservatoire (I guess friends from the Party count but I'm not really close with any of them yet). Although I'm less close to my friends from uni mostly because I don't see them outside of uni (but I'd still say I have at least one close friend there), and have grown less close to my friends from school because we don't get to see each other too often, so I guess my friends from the conservatoire are by defaut my closest since I see them multiple times a week every week, both at the conservatoire and elsewhere.

I'm lucky enough to have several groups of friends.

I have childhood friends I made as a kid in school. Then I have my political friends I made over the course of years bring involved in different things. Then I have another group of friends I made by hanging out with a core group of friends that just kept expanding.

I don't see any of those groups nearly as much as I did though. People say is part of getting old, but it sucks and I blame capitalism. I wish I could still regularly hang out, party, and fuck shit up with my friends.
