Ofuro ni wa irimasu :cowboy-cri:

For fuck's sake guys

I also think it's really cool that they almost completely got rid of kanji because apparently I'm a big dumb baby

All word banks and no typing makes Duolingo outrageously useless. Or am I just too dumb to figure out how to turn them off?

Pretty sure you can choose typing by tapping the keyboard icon in the lower left corner.

I'd prefer typing but I fucking hate touch screen typing so much, I'd need to get an USB adapter and plug in a real keyboard

I don't have that icon. (And I'm on a PC, where typing makes sense.)

I must be on the wrong side of some A/B testing. Hope it's eventually resolved: https://old.reddit.com/r/duolingo/comments/11ba27n/forcing_me_to_use_the_word_bank_on_desktop_was/

Edit: While searching some more about this word bank bullshit, I found a thread that covers your issue: https://old.reddit.com/r/duolingo/comments/yg84lu/i_about_had_a_stroke_trying_to_decipher_the_word/

Maybe. They've redone the ladder since I was last there regularly but this is at level 30-something of German, so even if they "unlock" it later it's still stupid for where the lessons are. Learning adjective endings, and debating between klein, kleine, and kleiner . . . oh, wait, "kleiner" is the only option. Guess it's that one!

What I should be doing is practicing my reading, but it had been a while since I'd practiced and I wanted a tuneup. Came back to the site last week and got whiplash. Sorry for hijacking your post - it had been in the back of my head and this was what reminded me to start looking for a solution. Or, I guess, an alternative.
