i haven't torrented in like 10 years. should I have a vpn and all that for this?
~3 years ago the copyright infringement emails I kept getting from my internet provider had an effect. Not the effect they wanted though. I kept torrenting and I got a vpn.
Why?
I'm going to retire next year and I don't want to be sued for copyright infringement for $258.7 billion dollars. That would be a decided crimp in my golden years. But I don't want to spend ~$100+ a month on a cable package because it will never have everything I want.
I got NordVPN. I like it. Google captchas, captchas in general, and other issues are usually rare. And it's quick, painless, and simple to use. They have deals all the time. I first got a two year subscription for ~$85. I think it was ~$3.5 a month.
A downside of Nord is that it doesn't have port forwarding which people use for torrents. I started threads at a few sites about port forwarding but I still didn't understand the hows/whys of it. It's better to have it. That's all I know. Oh, well.

I think of my vpn as my cable bill.
