We are planning on doing the final site migration to upstream Lemmy this Saturday.
We are currently unsure exactly how long we need for the entire process. Our estimate is around 12 hours of total downtime; we'll update this post when we have a more accurate estimate.
Hexbear will be inaccessible during this time. For updates on progress on the day, please follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/chapo_chat
Whilst we'll gain the ability to federate with other Lemmy & Mastodon instances, federation will initially be disabled. More on this in future posts.
We expect to encounter a few more UX-related bugs after the relaunch that will require more work, so if you are open to volunteering a bit, we are looking for frontend developers who can help figure out and fix some of those UX issues. If you think you can help, please send me a message on Element (@layla:chapo.chat) .
Finally, none of this is possible without your continued support! If you enjoy the site, please consider donating via our Liberapay or Patreon :hexbear-retro:

yeah lol. I might start farming up a few accounts at the new non-overloaded instances that are popping up. Don't need to register at beehaw itself to bug their libs. maybe somewhere has open registration

lemmy.world doesn't appear to have the registration questionaire. email is required but you can reuse a burner from site to site, or use aliases or something like gmail's <email>+foo@gmail.com
Update: 🐝🤠 defederated from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works because of the open registration
yeah lmao I heard that. very touchy those libs
This is a LLM's bread and butter

Libs love that overly formal/scientific language it produces too.
I'm thinking of starting a beehaw account solely to accuse any public figure that any user speaks positively of as being a socialist.
