I'm a little hesitant to write off feddit.de altogether. There was a post (archived translation: https://archive.is/FQJkT) a couple days ago about reconsidering having defederated Hexbear: "How do we feel about feddit defederating the Chapotraphouse instance Hexbear?"
Users stuck up for Hexbear, talking about how r/CTH was only banned to be "fair and balanced" when banning r/TD. It's probably too hopeful to think that Hexbear could get un-defederated by feddit.de, but reading that thread makes me wonder.
