I will never forgive Nintendo of America for what they did to poor Vivian.
The video only mentions the Yakuza games in passing, but there are a number of trans characters that show up. It's a mixed bag though. For one, this is a good thing, the trans characters are presented as validly identifying as their stated gender. One of the earlier games had a transphobic line where a trans woman's identity is questioned, but that line actually got removed in later releases. All the trans characters are treated with respect too, outside of that one line, their identities aren't seriously questioned. They're shown to be competent people outside of their gender too, like Ako at the Earth Angel bar is a competent bartender and fighter.
Yakuza 4 spoilers
And Saki from Yakuza 4 used to be a hotshot detective, but now works to help undocumented immigrant women escape abusive situations. She's shown to have a good heart and is good at what she does.
But on the other hand, nearly every trans woman in the series will be part of the same joke scenario. She'll try to flirt with the player character, who'll get shocked or disgusted or something. That's never done well and always feels gross. But also the games are savvy enough to show they know what gender identity is, so there are crossdressing men, but also trans women and they're not shown as the same thing, so at least that's kinda neat. Better than you'd expect from a game series about punching dudes outside the convenience store.

I genuinely don't remember any incidents of this aside from that awful out of character substory that got cut from 3, but it's been a while since I played those substories. Kiryu is usually as dense as a brick at the center of a neutron star lol

Hey let's he fair: in newer entries you can also punch dudes inside the convenience store
I'm mostly talking about stuff that happens in 2 dialogue boxes. Like Saki flirts with Tanimura, says something like he's her ideal man, and he gasps and does the scared pose.
It's not too egregious, but every trans woman seems to have a crush on whoever the player character is, although now that I'm typing that it seems like every woman in a Yakuza game has the hots for the player.
They're still pretty good portrayals otherwise I think. Every trans character I can remember is pretty cool and has attributes beyond their gender.
