Yeah fair, I think BTR as a show probably showcases anime's strengths as a medium better than the CSM anime does, and then with the tone of the respective shows as well, which you like more is gonna come down to a matter of taste.
Edit: Which is probably a long winded way to say, like what you like! Hot takes away!
I'm not a huge fan of graphic violence in general, so CSM had a big hill to climb for me. I got bored partway through and had to drag myself to finish it. Bocchi was entertaining from the start and I just rewatched it and enjoyed it just as much. Other CSM gripes: the obnoxious anime trope of making every character high school age for no reason. WHY does Denji need to be 16? He has a job, he doesn't live with his parents, he doesn't go to school. Everyone else he works with is an adult, WHY can't he also be an adult. The annoyance with this trope is doubly so because it's a horny anime. Make anime age make sense.
Yeah fair. CSM definitely does have that edginess that can be off-putting.
WHY does Denji need to be 16?
spoiler
He goes back to school
, but that's kinda waaay later than the anime covers. Also, like, theme of the story is how capitalism sucks and how it forces young people into positions they have no business having just to survive and where they can be taken advantage of, so idk, usually I'd be right there with you about the but in this case it kinda has a narrative point.
Ehh I was kinda being edgy with that comment anyway, trying to do a hot take. Chainsaw Man was fine, but I personally liked Bocchi much more.

He could also, you know, go into college as in back to school. God this anime trope pisses me off so much.
Eh, most anime/manga is made for highschoolers, so most of it is gonna portray highschoolers.
It is what it is, but yeah I feel you I'm definitely getting too old for most shows.
CSM spoiler
In CSM's case tho, grooming is a big topic it gets into later so yeah Denji kinda has to be underage for that.
Ok if that's an actual topic for the anime I can excuse the cliche this one time.
