Fair enough but OS2 was probably the most serious game Larian has made, and even then there's plenty of humor interspersed throughout its darker sections. OS1 had the vibes of a tabletop session with friends who aren't too emotionally invested, and OS2 was like when your DM decides to try something a little more involved. High school dnd vs college dnd, you know?
The art style alone is a big departure for baldur's gate, 1 and 2 had that almost-grimdark earthy aesthetic and 3 is full of bright color and snark, which isn't bad but is not at all like 1 and 2.
Hmm. Im not sure I agree with that. There are some horror movies (which I would call dark stories) that are very bleak and even humour less. Not trying to argue. Just saying you can have a dark story pretty much devoid of humour.
