serious question, how do moths still exist? they're some of the least self-preserving creatures ive ever seen. the other day a moth was flying around my desk at work so I just reached out and caught it on my finger and carried it outside. not only did it not fly away from the enormous monster, it didnt even put up the slightest fight. it was totally chill with what i wanted to do to it, without having any expectation that what i wanted was not to eat it. im not even totally convinced it registered that im an animal that could decide to eat it rather than some kind of very funny looking tree to sleep on.

how have all moths not just decided to go to sleep on the noses of dogs and wolves, in spiderwebs, etc? also considering how much they love fire im double surprised that they survived all of human history up to the invention of electric lighting.
