Maybe "guy with Indian ancestors" or "ethnically Indian guy" would be better. His parents were South-Asians living in East Africa, and 2 or 3 of his grandparents are from India but I think 1 or 2 of them are Pakistani. I know you're just talking about his dominant ethnicity, but a lot of non-first-gen immigrants in America and Europe can find it offensive when people label someone by their heritage when they're not culturally connected to that heritage
It's like, someone I know has grandparents from China, but she's never been there, and finds it offensive when people (mainly boomers) might call her a "Chinese girl" or something

You're right. i would have been a little more sensitive under ordinary circumstances but it was a throwaway post about world class piece of shit rishi sunak
True and he definitely does have some internalized racism, and it’s nothing big. But it’s like when I saw someone say Obama’s “an African that bombs other Africans,” he’s not from Africa, even if his dad is, so he’s not African, and we should try to be sensitive about people in protected groups even if they’re straight up evil. I think it’s also we colloquially use “Indian” too much like it’s its own race, when South-Asian is probably a better term for the race, idk

This guy's bullshit is a step beyond feeling alienated from your ancestors.
