I mean Das Kapital basically starts with Marx saying that in a different way.
"The Wealth of those societies in which the capitalist mode of production prevails presents itself as an immense collection of commodities."
"The slop of those rat races in which porky runs everything presents itself as a never ending flow of treats."
Yeah treatiness is for sure the main defining characteristic of a commodity
it satisfies a need be it from the stomach or the imagination, sounds like a treat to me
