Still some funny audio issues but I'm using the right mic now at least. I've done my best to edit around it.
One thing that really stood out to me this go around was the point that queer people and artists moving into, and integrating into mixed urban neighborhoods are not the ones who started the process of gentrification, as they became a part of the community, rather than destroying it. If the fact that some of them are white is what makes gentrifiers comfortable moving in, that is a statement more on the racism of the gentrifiers than the culpability of the urban bohemians who came before them. There's probably still room for criticism of those bohemians, but compared to what was to come with gentrification, turbocharged by AIDS, any issues they caused were tiny...
