I'm very concerned about this whole federating with lemmygrad thing. I came here to escape reddit and use an open source and privacy respecting alternative, but federating with an instance hosted in Mali, which I will remind you recently had a coup that supports Russia and invited Wagner in, totally undermines that. How can we know that our data isn't being sold to Russia and China? Even on top of that it's obviously full of propaganda bots which are undermining our democratic institutions. If we oppose Russian interference in the elections on Facebook, it would be hypocritical of us not to shut out such influence on this new platform.
Pretty sure even the first instance was registered there- I'm started to get nervous that all of Lemmy is shaping up to be a cult. I just hope the owner of it doesn't ban me for saying that.
