One of my lib friends just excitedly started asking me if i was voting for biden and talking about policy and I am having a panic attack i don't understand how they can be so fucking indifferent to the massacres and suffering I don't understand it.

I have to believe libs are tuning out the massacres and suffering so they don't have to feel bad about it, and this creates a feedback loop where they trick themselves into thinking it's not really that bad and they don't look at anything that contradicts it.

Libs have been unashamedly asking why people care about the genocide who aren't Palestinian; they know, they just don't care.

They repeat the mantra of Israel being a secular liberal democracy as though that justifies genocide.

They "know" but only in a technical sense. They've never bothered learning about the Palestinian people or their stories or their suffering, they just know abstract numbers and it's really easy to dehumanize numbers. That's also why they don't seek out this information - they don't want to be exposed to anything that challenges their ideas and the media is helping them do exactly that.

I can ask them the same about Ukraine. Eli Valley had a somber comic about the media’s framing of people fighting back.

I've pretty much quit talking politics completely with people who aren't already at least left leaning.
