Effort(?) post:

This is one of the really early vaporwave/mallsoft albums, one whose sound became really influential later on (you can hear it reflected in almost any contemporary tracks that exist in these microgenres). What do you think about the soft kind of reverence these tracks have for shopping malls and elevator-ambiance? I, like many western listeners, love the nostalgic feelings it conjures; a kind of half-lost memory of walking through a massive indoor mall with inoffensive music playing from a speaker somewhere far away. Is this kind of nostalgia for consumer culture inherently harmful, or can it be rehabilitated? Is vaporwave a celebration of consumerism in its glossy meaninglessness or is it a recontexualized genre that's commenting on it in a deeper way?

What are your thoughts on these tracks?

If there is any interest, I would like to post these kinds of discussion threads periodically to both share some albums and artists I am a fan of, and also to allow for some decent posts other than just memes :)
