    Question for the history nerds: Did gold become massively devalued in Europe during the colonization of the Americas?

      I know that silver from the new world was heavily used by Europe to buy goods from India and China. This was also how they got their foothold with the trading ports that were eventually used to conquer and colonize those places.

    Wouldn't it still keep it's value as demand for gold in manufacturing increases? It's used in a shitton of stuff.
