This is maybe the 10th time this summer that im out of power. Not only am I out of power for the nth time, but our regional power company wants to do ANOTHER rate hike. That's two rate hikes this summer.

And why am I out of power? Is it some kind of weather nightmare? Some kind of ecological disaster? No. Just a tree. A tree who gave up. Every powerline in my area is like 15 ft from a tree. They keep saying they're going to cut the trees back. Every year. They never do.

The two kids are going nuts because of no power. I spent the whole day sweating in the yard. I just want to fucking relax. Instead I'm going to lead a Maoist uprising against the power grid.

We lost power last month during a light rainstorm. I get very anxious when it storms for that exact reason. None of the trees around here have ever been pruned and the power lines just run right through them.

Yup. The amount of money I've spent this year just prepping for this kind of shit is unreal. Generators, portable batteries. Flashlights.

frequent power outages, the expectation that you just have to have your own infrastructure because you cant rely on the grid...

definitely not signs of a failed state :D
