The US is even shit at car dependency. Iceland is just as car dependent as the US, but they still have safe pedestrian crossings, narrow lanes, 18mph speed limits in town (30kmph), smaller cars, etc.
This is what happens when you declare the end of history and yourself the best in the world. You don’t bother to do anything because nothing matters.
