The poorly-animated cast of the spin-off series barely resembles the characters we know and love
Not seeing the downside lol
90% of Anime adaptations of western media has nothing to do with the original material, lol.
Agreed. It seems fine so far. The action has been meh, but the reflective, pondering tone of much of it has been pretty nice. The way it plays on Japanese sci-fi tropes (including out of order storytelling and time travel) has me really interested to see more on this outsiders' take on the possibilities of the R&M multiverse
The first ep was rough but I’m reserving judgment. Some first eps are like that.
Being an anime, but presumably having zero involvement of Justin Roiland... does that mean it will have more or less child abuse as a punchline than usual?
I was hoping for a classic anime style with over the top melodrama. Not whatever this is.
It's riffing on sci-fi anime filled with philosophical reflection and nonlinear storytelling, like Ghost In The Shell, Ergo Proxy, Evangelion.
Not saying it's as great as those or anything, but it's hard to tell if it will be good by the time the plot wraps up. The animation for the Space Beth fight in (I think?) Episode 2 was pretty bad, though.
