To be fair, the current Russian government is more on a trend towards fascism than towards liberalism. Then again, as a European, I wish I couldn't say the same about the EU
I normally think of fascism as more or less liberalism/capitalism in crisis. I thought that shock therapy basically burned the economic structure that was already in place as fuel to accelerate capitalism and were so successful that they are basically doing a capitalism to late stage capitalism to fascism speedrun.
