The worst part is this probably isn't even Amazon policy just some pudding brain middle manager who doesn't know how the fuck their (awful, invasive) system works and is under pressure to get their "safety" numbers down so they spout their complete lack of understanding as fact.
I checked the thread and someone speculated that it's doing eyetracking to see if you take your eyes off the road, and your mouth moving throws it off. But that didn't make sense to me because eye and head movements are needed when driving, and distinguishing between ditractions and checking rearview mirrors seems impossible.
The answer is probably it only tracks movement and dings if there's too much in a given time.
Companies skimp on this tech constantly, even with retail foot traffic trackers they could distinguish between employees and customers easily but don't want to shell out for anything more than a LRD
