A list of grievances of the US government and I think that they are directing the arrest of Pavel durov
"The company can gain access to messages unless users select a secret chat option with end-to-end encryption, according to two former employees. On at least two occasions, the company has retrieved the messages of former employees, one person said." LOL, the pretend privacy branding
They talk more about Hamas using Telegram than white supremacist terrorists if anyone was wondering what NYT has learnt from its genocidal reporting over the last 11 months.
Hell, Telegram has been used by the US' various regime-change lackeys. Not that the "newspaper" cum rags of empire would ever mention that bit.
Comes to mind actually, some of those white supremacist terrorists also fall under part of that category (Banderites and the Euromaidan). When they talk about Telegram being a "playground for criminals/extremists/terrorists"- honestly I imagine most (if not all- where there's organized crime, extremism, and terrorism, 99.99% of the time there's Yankees involved... the other 0.01% of the time you're not looking hard enough) of them are connected to the US' purse strings in one way or another lol
Website administrators can read files on their servers unless they're encrypted.
Big "people die when they are killed" energy. Or considering Gaza, perhaps "people starve when they are prevented from accessing food..."
It's hard to imagine a platform that broadcasts the communications of criminals, extremists, and terrorists more widely than the New York Times.
All of this fuss over various non-aligned messaging services is solely to further entrench imperial surveillance capabilities.
If it had anything to do with their usual excuses of counter-terrorism or child abuse they could just use the resources at their disposal and deal with most of it. Even when people use encrypted messaging the rest of their opsec is sloppy enough to find a way in if you're so motivated.
